PSL Systemtechnik opens its doors on the third excursion

Concentrated information was available for students of the Clausthal and Göttingen universities.

Freiheit (district of Osterode). The story of Microsoft founding a company in a garage is world-famous. Also in the Harz there are such enterprise beginnings, although not comparable in relation to size and conversion, but successfully at the market. We are talking about PSL Systemtechnik GmbH, a manufacturer of innovative laboratory equipment for the petroleum industry and the petrochemical sector in the area of flow assurance. Originally founded in 1999 in a cellar in Clausthal-Zellerfeld and located there until 2015, Osterode am Harz, district Freiheit, in the OIB Industrial Park, has now been the new home for over 3 years. The third excursion of students of TU Clausthal-Zellerfeld and the University of Göttingen took them there.

This offer was organised by MEKOM, SNIC and WRG (we reported). The managing directors Dr.-Ing. Jens Pfeiffer and Dipl.-Kffr. Rena Pfeiffer took a lot of time to give a detailed insight into their company.

The laboratory is at the heart

On more than 1000 square meters the company develops and produces laboratory equipment. A spacious laboratory for quality assurance and another for contract measurements form the heart of the system.

As the individual company divisions are close together, the short distances allow an optimal exchange between the respective departments. These closely interlinked and coordinated processes make it possible to work optimally for customers. In order to guarantee the quality of the purchased parts, 99 % of these are procured from national suppliers.

In only 15 years it was possible to achieve technological leadership in their industry. "We set new standards and show the market what can be measured with a high degree of automation and user-friendly design," says Dr.-Ing. Jens Pfeiffer. With the help of PSL Systemtechnik, the industry can ensure that crude oil and natural gas in the pipelines remain flowable from the deposit to the end user and that deposits of asphaltenes, guards, lime and gas hydrates are avoided.

Customers in more than 40 countries

PSL supplies customers in more than 40 countries on all continents, with an export rate of 90 %. To survive on the market, a highly motivated workforce is required. That this is undoubtedly present became clear in the concluding discussion, which was also attended by employees.

In addition to a flat hierarchy, a strikingly harmonious tone of interaction with one another, social benefits and a comparison with large companies, the social commitment was also highlighted. "Social commitment is a matter of course for us. That is why we support regional projects in areas that are important to us, be it in education, culture or development aid," explained Dipl.-Kffr. Rena Pfeiffer.

One employee expressed the most beautiful compliment: "At PSL, everything is possible".
